There are three Support Budgets that can be found in NDIS Plans. Today we're reviewing the Core Supports Budget.

Following on from a previous blog, "NDIS Plan Funded Supports: Introduction", we're diving further into one of the three Supports Budgets: Core Supports Budget.

The Core Supports Budget includes supports that enable you to complete daily living activities. They are flexible so that you can choose specific supports within this budget, but you cannot reallocate this funding for another Support Budget (such as Capacity Building Budget or Capital Support Budget).

Within the Core Supports Budget, you may find one, some or all of the following categories:

  1. Assistance with Daily Life
  2. Assistance with Social & Community Participation
  3. Assistance with Work
  4. Consumables
  5. Transport

Consumables

This category provides for the purchase of everyday-use items. Typical things this covers includes:

  • Continence aids
  • Disability-related health consumables
  • Customised prosthetics (including orthotics) 
  • Interpreting and translation services
  • Assistive products for personal care and safety
  • Personal mobility equipment
  • Vision equipment
  • Hearing equipment
  • Communication and information equipment
  • Assistance animals (for example, guide dogs)

This category provides for situations where you are unable to use public transport due to your disability. Typical things this covers includes:
